The Gates 180°F thermostat is intended for Mazda MX-5 Miata vehicles from 1990–2005 and certain 1971–1985 Toyota Celica Super Stat installations that call for a 180°F opening. It controls coolant flow to manage warm-up and operating temperatures, opening earlier than higher-temperature units. Choose this thermostat when a lower opening temperature is desired to help reduce elevated engine heat under normal driving conditions.
