The COMP Cams Thumpr camshaft produces a race-style idle with strong horsepower gains and a broad torque curve suited to muscle cars and street rods. It needs about 9.5:1 compression, a 2800+ rpm stall torque converter and lower gearing to stay in the powerband. Reduced vacuum at idle is typical, so plan for a vacuum canister, pump or hydroboost. Nitrided surface treatment.
