The COMP Cams CS 316A-R8 camshaft is a profile aimed at 355+ ci small-block engines, best suited to lightweight cars with four-speed transmissions where high-rpm performance is desired. It emphasizes top-end power and is intended for race applications. As with similar COMP Cams products, 1955–57 SBCs with a rear-journal oiling groove are excluded from compatibility, and melanized or nitrided distributor gears are required to avoid voiding warranties.
